Chemistry Department, M. M. University, Mullana has successfully organized a two-day national conference on Recent Advances in Chemical Sciences. Professor Rajshree Khare, Head and Conference Director welcomed the Chief Guest Dr Rajender Singh Sangwan (Director-NABI, Mohali), eminent speakers and participants, came from various institutes across the country. Conference has served as a good platform for scientific exchange and discussion among young scientist and students. Dr. Sangwan released conference proceedings and delivered a very informative talk on bioinspired chemistry. He stated that new waves of attraction originates from human needs for handling current and forthcoming grand challenges related to food, energy and environment. Total 106 articles and abstracts from various educational and research institutes of India and abroad. All submissions were peer reviewed by Scientific Advisory Board reviewers. Abstract book contains forward message by Bharat Ratna Prof. C. N. R. Rao and Prof. Sabyasachi Sarkar. This leads for the compilation of an outside scientific programme, besides inaugural function which includes one key note, 3 plenary, 20 invited talks and 82 poster presentations.
An abstract book published with ISBN number (978-93-5267-361-2) covers the presentations to be made during NCRACS-2016. The most heartening feature of the Conference was to provide sufficient time for scientific exchange and discussion among young scientists and research students. Various eminent speakers Prof Ravi Bhushan (IIT Roorkee), Prof. N K Ralhan (Director Tin-Chem Enterprises, Patiala), Dr Himadari B. Bohidar (JNU), Dr Shaibal Banerjee (DRDO Pune), Dr Asish Sharma (Reliance Industry Ltd. Polymer R & D Mumbai), Dr Amardeep Singh (Indian oil- R & D, Faridabad) also put their views on interdisciplinary aspects of chemical sciences. Other speakers from NABI-Mohali, CSIO-Chandigarh, CBRI-Roorkee also gave valuable inputs in different fields of their expertise. More than 300 participants which includes students, faculty and researchers attended the conference. Concluding remarks and vote of thanks was presented by Conference Convener Dr. Kuldeep Singh MRSC. Chemistry Department thanked the Honorable Chancellor, Dr Tarsem Garg, M. M. University for encouragement and providing the necessary support to make the event a great success.
